Mayor David A. Gonzalez began his Memorial Day tribute with the following quote from President John F. Kennedy. “A nation reveals itself not only by the men it produces but also by the men it honors, the men it remembers.” The City of Chicago Heights Morning of Remembrance celebrated our country’s fallen heroes with a simple but moving ceremony recognizing the sacrifice of our men and women who died in service to our country. Mayor Gonzalez shared the stories of soldiers who lost their lives in battle, and in conclusion, called upon those gathered to share these stories, or stories of their own, throughout the year in remembrance of our fallen heroes as we gather at work, at home or in prayer.
